Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Proper aftercare after laser tattoo removal is extremely important for comfortable healing, skin protection, and optimal fading results. At Laser House TLV we focus not only on removing tattoo pigment, but also on preserving healthy skin throughout the entire removal process.

The first 24 hours after laser tattoo removal are the most important.

The skin may feel warm, sensitive, slightly swollen, or appear red immediately after the session. Temporary whitening of the tattoo area, also known as “frosting,” is completely normal and usually fades within a short time.

During the first several hours after treatment, the area should be cooled every hour for approximately 5–7 minutes. Use a clean cold pack wrapped in soft fabric. Ice should never be placed directly on the skin. Proper cooling helps reduce heat accumulation inside the skin, minimizes swelling, and improves overall comfort after the laser procedure.

A healing cream should be applied twice daily for the next several days. Products such as Biofin or creams containing similar skin-repairing and soothing ingredients are commonly recommended after laser tattoo removal. The skin should remain lightly moisturized but not heavily covered with thick layers of ointment.

It is important to avoid aggressive skincare products during healing.

Do not use acids, retinol, exfoliants, alcohol-based products, or irritating active ingredients on the treated area.

Scratching, rubbing, or removing dry skin manually may increase irritation and negatively affect healing.

For the first few days after treatment, avoid sauna, steam rooms, hot baths, swimming pools, intense workouts, and excessive sweating. Heat and friction may increase inflammation and sensitivity in the treated area.

Sun protection is also extremely important after tattoo removal.

Once the skin begins recovering, use SPF 50 daily and avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure. Proper sun protection helps reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation, irritation, and uneven skin recovery after laser treatment.

Mild redness, dryness, sensitivity, or small scabs may appear depending on tattoo density, ink depth, skin type, and previous scar tissue. In most cases, these reactions are temporary and part of the normal recovery process.

Laser tattoo removal is a gradual process. The laser breaks down tattoo pigment particles, while the body’s immune and lymphatic systems continue clearing fragmented ink over the following weeks. This is why fading continues even after the visible skin healing is complete.
