Does Tattoo Removal Hurt? Questions Before Your First Session
Short answers to the questions clients ask most often. Every case is assessed individually.
What laser do you use?
Different pigments need different wavelengths. We work with professional Quanta System technology: Nd:YAG 1064 nm, 532 nm and ruby 694 nm. They are used for black, blue, red, green and difficult multicolored tattoos. Read more
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as uncomfortable but manageable. Modern cooling significantly reduces discomfort and helps protect the skin. Discuss pain relief before your appointment. If a topical anaesthetic is recommended, follow the instructions for that specific product and your clinician's advice. Do not improvise the amount, application time or use of plastic wrapping.
Will there be scars?
Laser tattoo removal carries a risk of scarring, even with appropriate equipment and technique. Careful assessment and aftercare aim to reduce that risk. Scars from the original tattoo or earlier treatments may remain visible. Read more
Will a trace remain after complete removal?
Some tattoos are removed completely. You can see examples in our before and after results. Others leave a faint shadow or residual pigment. Black ink generally responds better than complex colors. The result depends on ink color, density, depth and skin condition, so every case is assessed individually. The photos show individual cases and do not predict your result.
What happens after the procedure and what should I do right away?
Redness, swelling and short-lived whitening can occur. Darkening has several possible causes and is not always temporary. Worsening pain, spreading redness, discharge or marked swelling needs medical assessment. While the skin heals, avoid strenuous exercise, heat, friction and direct sun, and follow the written aftercare instructions. Read more
Do I need to prepare before the procedure?
- The skin in the treatment area must not be tanned or sunburned. We do not treat sunburned skin under any circumstances; the procedure is postponed until the skin has fully recovered.
- A fresh tattoo can be treated only 2 months after the day it was done.
- Any new, changing or suspicious skin lesion should be seen by a physician first.
- Pain relief is discussed in advance at the consultation. The amount and application time of any anaesthetic are set by the specialist.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on tattoo size, colors, complexity, skin condition and previous treatments. Complex cases involving scars, burns or resistant pigments may require additional technologies and treatment time. We give an exact price after assessment. Read more
